So you enjoy music and wish some day you would like to create waves that are pleasing to the ear? Or you wish to work in the technical side of the Entertainment Industry and media? Then a certification in the Audio Engineering could be ideal for you. The Media Technology Institute offers a Technical Diploma in Audio Engineering (Recording Studio). This is a one year full programme which provides a foundation for a range of careers in the audio industry or for progression to degrees. School leavers or mature students with a strong interest and or experience in the sound media industry are welcome to apply. It provides students with the opportunity to extend a skill base or to re-skill and includes relevant experience in the industry.
Prescribed Programme of Study
The Programme consists of 3 core units, 2 general education units and 2 electives. Practical work includes acoustics, analogue/digital recording techniques, sound design, signal routing, patchbays, recording studio and editing, microphone types and applications, recording bands/musicians, audio theory, and a production project.
